     RUMM and the Rasch paradigm

The Rasch paradigm requires that anyone attempting a Rasch analysis needs to be in dynamic and interactive control of the analysis and to be able to follow the evidence to see where the responses may be invalid.

It is important to be able to diagnose very quickly where the misfit to the Rasch model is the worst, and then proceed to try to understand this misfit in terms of the construction of the items and the understanding of the variable in terms of its theoretical development

The RUMM2030 program has been developed with the Rasch paradigm and with the case study conceptualization of a Rasch analysis.  It is used interactively to move between many different graphics and corresponding statistics in making decisions.

The easy interactive moving between statistics and graphs also makes RUMM2030 an ideal tool for teaching and learning about the Rasch model.

As the RUMM2030 program is a full Windows application, the employment of all the easy to use Windows characteristic features makes the program such a labour saving application. No need to jump constantly back-and-forth to amend and/or complete and time consuming batch file coding tasks which is a severe distraction to the diagnostic tasks at hand - merely select the requisite options and move rapidly between plots and displays.

RUMM2030 has a set of four comprehensive manuals, made available in PDF at the time of  installation of the application. These contain a wealth of graphic illustrations for a range of typical analyses undertaken using RUMM2030.

The "Getting Started" manual provides an overview for conducting Rasch analyses and the different sections of the application involved.

The "Displaying the RUMM2030 Analysis" manual is devoted entirely to the extensive displays available for obtaining the most from the Rasch paradigm.

The "Extending the RUMM2030 Analysis" manual presents the full range of advanced features offered by RUMM2030 to maximise any Rasch analysis undertaken.

The "Using Templates in RUMM2030" manual presents a wealth of information on how to create customised templates for undertaking the range of strategies available in RUMM2030 to maximise the effectiveness of a Rasch analysis.

Interpreting RUMM2030 analyses

There are seven "Interpreting RUMM2030" documents available to assist the analyst in the conduct of a Rasch analysis using RUMM2030.

"Part I: Dicotomous data" covers the essentials behind a typical Rasch analysis involving dichotomous data and "Part II: Polytomous data" extends into the more general analysis involving multiple category data.  The two documents are included with the Standard edition of RUMM2030.

The remaining five interpreting documents cover the range of new features introduced into the Professional edition of RUMM2030 and are available only with the purchase of this edition.
